This project features a bike that caught our editorial team's eye from the MY BIKE posts on the Webike Community. This time, we're featuring the YAMAHA "Serow 225W", owned by "Westin".

Serow 225W (225cc) Owner: Westin

The Yamaha Serow is a mountain trail model that debuted in 1985. At a time when off-road bikes were dominated by motocrosser-derived high-power, long-travel suspension models, it was born with the unique concept of "two wheels, two legs".

Its low seat height, easy-to-handle low-speed torque, and lightweight, slim body proposed a new way to enjoy off-roading, allowing riders to tread along even on steep forest roads and animal trails by putting their feet down. The "Serow 225W" introduced here is a minor model change that appeared in 1993, with further improvements in practicality and off-road capability, such as the adoption of a disc brake for the rear and increased headlight brightness. It remains a classic bike with enduring popularity, especially among forest road touring enthusiasts, due to its ease of handling.

Owner Westin purchased the Serow 225W on Yahoo Auctions, where it was listed at a bargain price for daily use. After considering it alongside the YBR125, they chose the Serow. They highly praise its maneuverability in the city, indicating that the Serow's inherent ease of handling is fully utilized for everyday use.

■Reason for Purchase, Usage, Comparison Models

Saw it listed at a bargain price while browsing Yahoo Auctions and bought it. Was torn between the YBR125, but got this for daily use.

■Pros

High riding position, satisfactory suspension, and effortless tight left turns in the city.

■Cons

In its stock condition, not only is the luggage capacity low, but there's no under-seat storage, so documents and tools have to be put in an external case.

■Advice for Future Buyers

Be careful not to get the wrong oil filter part number! Using a filter for the 250cc model will prevent oil from reaching the head and cause seizure.

■Future Customization Plans

First, rust removal and painting.
