Yamaha Motor Racing announced on September 18, 2026, that it has entered into a new two-year partnership with QUS Tech GmbH, a specialist in wearable biosensing technology. The aim is to enhance the performance of MotoGP and Moto2 riders.
Collecting Rider Biometric Data to Optimize Performance
Yamaha Motor Racing announced a new two-year official and strategic partnership with QUS Tech GmbH in Spielberg, Austria. This collaboration supports Yamaha's Human Performance Engineering (HPE) program, focusing not only on improving machine performance but also on analyzing and optimizing human performance.
QUS Tech GmbH is a technology company that leverages the human body as a source of continuous performance and vital data. The company develops smart textile biosensors that capture high-quality physiological signals from athletes in real-time. These unique biosensors are seamlessly integrated into clothing and paired with the QUS onboard unit, providing accurate data even in harsh environments without hindering movement.
Yamaha will utilize this technology to gain a deeper understanding of the unique stresses placed on riders competing at the highest levels of MotoGP and Moto2, thereby enhancing rider development and performance analysis through a data-driven approach. The raw vital signals acquired will be transformed into actionable insights, including physiological monitoring and insights into fatigue and recovery at the session level.
Significance of the Partnership Discussed by Company Representatives
Felix Marcks, CEO of QUS Tech GmbH, commented, "Being chosen as the official and strategic partner of Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP is a defining moment for QUS. It will be the ultimate proof that our technology works in the most demanding environment, the pinnacle of motorcycle racing. MotoGP and Moto2 are stages where every heartbeat, every breath, and every split second counts, and it is precisely here that Yamaha has placed its trust in QUS."
He further added, "We are extremely proud that a brand with a global standing and racing heritage has chosen our technology for this exclusive partnership, united by a shared, relentless pursuit of precision, performance, and courage. This is a testament to our innovation competing and winning on the world's biggest stage."
Beatrice De Marzi, Head of HPE at Yamaha Motor Racing, explained, "We believe that performance in elite motorcycle racing stems from the perfect integration of machine and human. While technological innovation has always been at the core of our racing DNA, we see equal opportunity in applying engineering methodologies to better understand and enhance human performance."
She continued, "This vision led to the creation of our Human Performance Engineering (HPE) program. Our goal is to translate data into actionable insights, deepen our understanding of the unique characteristics of motorcycle racing, and support the continuous development of our riders. QUS's technology aligns perfectly with our goals and will provide us with objective information."
