Integrated Wings Give the GSX-R a Next-Gen Look: SUZUKI GSX-R1000R Custom by Bright Logic

If you saw this bike in front of you and someone told you it was the new GSX-R1000 just unveiled, you might easily believe it. That’s how convincing this bike looks. In reality, it’s a custom build by Bright Logic, based on the GSX-R1000R M2 (2022 model). It was displayed at the entrance of the Ohlins (Labo Carrozzeria) booth during the 2024 Tokyo Motorcycle Show, so many visitors probably saw it there.

The highlight is, without question, the front end. Resin-made front wings have been added, styled much like Suzuki’s MotoGP machine, the GSX-RR. With that alone, the feel of a next-generation GSX-R instantly comes through.

The wings curve gently outward as they drop, with the tips curling downward and extending to the rear. Near the base and close to the ends, there are deep cutouts to guide airflow rearward while reducing resistance and turbulence. The shape is similar to the dry carbon wings used on #42 Alex Rins’ 2022 machine.

This isn’t Bright Logic’s first experiment. Back in 2022, they built a GSX-R1000R (M1) in Suzuki’s 100th anniversary colors for exhibition at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, also adding wings made using 3D printing. That version had a gentler curve, tips that rose upward and pointed inward, and an overall box-like form, closer to Joan Mir’s 2021/2022 GSX-RR. With that experience in hand, they created this new design.

The mounting structure of the wings is also close to the 2022 GSX-RR. The V-shaped front support and the front edges of the cowl are made to fit perfectly, and additional supports are provided at the rear of the wing. These clamp over the side cowl (at the bottom edge of the SUZUKI logo, on the “I” for the right side and “S” on the left), adding stability once fitted. The mounting area is also painted to match the logo, giving the whole setup a natural, production-like finish. Just adding the wings changes the impression dramatically. According to Mr. Takenaka of Bright Logic, commercial release is under consideration. While we wait for the next R1000, it’s hard not to imagine how exciting it would be if these wings became available.

Handlebar

The front master cylinder is a Brembo RCS, paired with a YOSHIMURA lever guard.

Bodywork

Front view, shown without mirrors at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. Even with mirrors fitted for street use, the look would still work.

The wings are securely supported at two points on each side: next to the front ducts, and at the part that grips the front edge of the side cowl. They are made of resin in a size that suits the GSX-R1000R, with attention also given to weather resistance and flexibility.

The bodywork, including the headlight, uses the Clever Wolf Street Full Cowl and Endurance Seat Cowl (GSX-R1000 / 2017 and later), painted and fitted with ultra-compact LED turn signals front and rear.

The wing mounting area at the front of the cowl is painted to match the body color and logo, with the LED turn signals set above. The engine remains stock, a liquid-cooled DOHC four-valve inline-four, 999cc, paired with the stock aluminum twin-spar frame. A YOSHIMURA radiator core guard and GB Racing FIM-approved engine covers are also added.

Intake & Exhaust

The silencer is a YOSHIMURA R-11sq Cyclone with ST titanium cover.

Chassis

The rearsets are the YOSHIMURA X-TREAD Rearsets Kit. The fairings are fully painted and finished with custom-made logos. The drive chain is an RK 525XW.

The front forks are Ohlins FGRT224 (FG R/T NIX), and the front brakes use Brembo CNC 4P racing radial calipers with SuperSport discs.

The rear brake is a Brembo GP2-SS 2P caliper with a SUNSTAR Works Expand disc. The swingarm and linkage remain stock GSX-R1000R.

The rear shock is Ohlins TTX 2018GP (SU468). The wheels are MAGTAN JB4, sized 3.50-17 front and 6.00-17 rear, fitted with BRIDGESTONE RS11 tires in 120/70ZR17 and 190/55ZR17 sizes.
