In this project, we pick up and introduce one motorcycle that catches the editorial department's eye from the "My Bike" posts on the Webike Community. This time, we are featuring the KAWASAKI "Z250", owned by "TAISA".

Z250 (249cc) Owner: TAISA

Kawasaki's "Z250" is a naked model based on the company's full-cowl sports model, the Ninja 250, with the cowl removed and an upright handlebar equipped. It bears the name of Kawasaki's naked series, "Z", and is characterized by its aggressive "Sugomi" design. By combining a lightweight chassis with an easy-to-handle parallel-twin engine, it offers a package that allows for nimble riding in a wide range of situations, from city streets to winding roads. The adoption of an assist & slipper clutch makes clutch operation light, contributing to reduced fatigue during daily use.

Owner TAISA says they received this Z250 through a private sale from a friend just when they were considering adding a 150cc class bike to their collection. They appreciate the bike for its lightness and good reach to the ground, making it easy to ride, which suggests it was an optimal choice as a second bike.

■ Purchase Motivation, Usage, and Comparison Models

I had been thinking in the back of my mind about adding a used 150cc bike (YZF-R15 or Gixxer 150) to my collection (though I didn't intend to buy one immediately) when a friend decided to let go of this one to switch bikes, so I bought it through a private sale.

■ Pros

・The chassis is light and the reach to the ground is good, so it's easy to ride.
・Among recent bikes, the space under the seat is relatively large.
・The assist & slipper clutch makes operation light.
・The gears shift with a "click" and the feel is good.

■ Cons

・The Positive Neutral Finder might be a matter of personal preference.
・The stock helmet holder is difficult to use.
・The mirrors are hard to see (not as bad as the Z125, though).
・I wish it had come with hazard lights as standard.

■ Advice for Future Buyers

I have also owned an MT-25, but the Z250 has higher RPMs when cruising at 60 km/h. Perhaps because of that, the MT wins in terms of fuel economy. However, it still gets an average of 30 km/L, so it's not extremely bad.

The gears are quite close-ratio, so it's fun on winding roads with an emphasis on acceleration. It's easy to start and is recommended for beginners or as a second bike for those who want to ride casually.

■ Future Custom Plans

Thinking about it.
