In this project, we pick up and introduce one bike that the editorial department is interested in from the "My Bikes" posted on the Webike Community. This time, we are featuring the HONDA "NC750X", owned by "Fukuchan".
NC750X (750cc) Owner: Fukuchan
The Honda NC750X is a crossover model that combines torquey performance in the low-to-mid speed range with excellent fuel efficiency. Rooted in the NC700X that debuted in 2012, it has evolved through increased displacement and refinements in various areas. Its most notable feature is the large-capacity luggage space located where the fuel tank is on a typical motorcycle. This allows for the storage of helmets and personal belongings, providing high convenience for everything from daily use to touring. The engine is a parallel-twin with a significant forward tilt, contributing to a lower center of gravity. Combined with its easy-to-handle output characteristics, it has established a unique position as a highly practical large motorcycle that handles city maneuvering and long-distance cruising with ease.
Owner Fukuchan, after riding an NX400 as a returning rider, switched to the NC750X because he "wanted to ride more leisurely at lower RPMs." He positions his bike as a "leisurely touring" machine and seems to enjoy riding while savoring the pulse of the low-to-mid speed range. His dedication to finishing the bike to his liking, such as having the cowl painted before delivery because he was concerned about its texture, shows his deep affection for it.
<From My Bike Comments>
■ Purchase Motivation, Usage, and Comparison Models
After returning to riding, I was riding an NX400, but I wanted to ride more leisurely at lower RPMs.
I was worried about the low quality of the cowl texture, so I purchased it on the premise of painting the cowl.
■ Pros
It is easy to ride.
Even though it is a large bike, it is very easy to ride in the city, and low-speed maneuvering is especially excellent. Also, highway cruising is very comfortable.
I think it is the optimal vehicle for unhurried touring.
There is nothing more to ask for a 50-year-old returning rider who doesn't need to show off.
Since it has storage, I never have trouble with where to put souvenirs or luggage.
It is very fun to putt-putt along while enjoying the pulse of the low-to-mid speed range. In any case, it is not tiring at all.
The title "750 Cub" is very fitting.
At reasonable speeds on public roads, it has better acceleration performance than most people probably imagine.
■ Cons
The coloring is disappointing. The matte gray cowl, which is the only bioplastic base material on the genuine MT, had a texture that was too cheap. Before delivery, I ordered a genuine cowl, had a professional paint it in Toyota's color name, Precious White Pearl, and replaced it myself.
In corners, if you increase the pace a little, the shift to front-end load is somewhat abrupt. There is little resistance to the rear extension. There is a quirk in load transfer due to braking. It feels like you turn by leaning rather than turning with moderate front-end load, so you shouldn't trust it in medium-speed or faster corners.
■ Advice for Future Buyers
It is optimal for leisurely touring on local roads after coming off the highway. The seating posture is upright, so you can enjoy touring comfortably while taking in the scenery.
Also, while the tank capacity is not that large, the fuel consumption rate is excellent.
Furthermore, the operability in the extremely low-speed range, combined with the sharp steering angle, allows you to enjoy the fun of controlling it with clutch and rear brake operation, especially if it is an MT. (This is a trade-off for the ease of the DCT.)
Once you straddle it, you can perform U-turns and figure-eights easily with handling that feels far lighter than the actual vehicle weight.
