This project features a MY BIKE posted on Webike Community, with one bike picked up by our editorial department every week. This time, we're featuring the SUZUKI "V-Strom 250," owned by "Amaterasu."
V-Strom 250 (250cc) Owner: Amaterasu
The SUZUKI V-Strom 250, introduced in 2017, is a mid-displacement adventure touring model. Its origins lie in Suzuki's long-cultivated expertise in on-road sportbikes, fused with the off-road capability and comfort developed from its off-road models. The V-Strom series was developed with the aim of balancing comfort for long-distance touring with the ability to handle diverse road conditions, including rough terrain. The V-Strom 250 inherits this philosophy while being optimized for Japanese road conditions and rider needs. In particular, it focuses on delivering the enjoyment of authentic adventure touring in the 250cc class.
Amaterasu affectionately refers to this V-Strom 250 as their "full pannier" setup. When purchasing, they prioritized a bike that could carry plenty of luggage, comfortably handle highways, be easy to maneuver, economical to maintain, and most importantly, allow them to utilize its full power range. The V-Strom 250 perfectly meets these requirements, making it a very sensible choice. Its fuel efficiency and luggage capacity are outstanding, with a mileage of 27-34 km/liter, which is a significant draw for touring riders. The substantial size that provides a strong sense of ownership is also a key factor in the satisfaction derived from this motorcycle.
Purchase Motivation, Usage, and Comparison Models
I wanted to be able to carry plenty of luggage, ride on the highway, have it be easy to maneuver, and economical to maintain. Most importantly, I wanted a bike where I could use its full power.
Strengths
Fuel efficiency and luggage capacity are beyond reproach.
Overall, it's between 27-34 km/liter.
I imagine it gets closer to the upper end when the proportion of general road riding increases.A large chassis that provides a strong sense of ownership.
Weaknesses
Older 250s used to rev higher,
and I feel like the top speed was a bit more.It feels like they deliberately removed the higher speed ranges,
which are rarely used, in favor of practicality. There are slight, frequent vibrations (almost like a buzz)
that occur in the high-rpm range. These are understandable compromises when considering the overall completeness of the bike, haha.
Advice for Potential Buyers
If you want a bike that accelerates proportionally to how much you open the throttle,
you should definitely avoid this one.If you have a relaxed mindset
and want to enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace,
this is a fun bike that can take you anywhere without issue.
Future Customization Plans
Exhaust system replacement
Sprocket replacement
