Martín Returns to the Points Lead in the Previous Austrian Grand Prix
Aprilia Racing heads to Mobility Resort Motegi for the first round of the Asian tour, Round 16 of the FIM MotoGP World Championship, signaling the final stretch of the season.
In the previous Austrian Grand Prix held at Spielberg, Jorge Martín won the sprint race and finished second in the main race. With these results, Martín has once again taken the lead in the overall standings. His goal in the Japanese Grand Prix will be to maintain this momentum aboard his RS-GP26.
Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi also had a solid weekend in Austria, securing two third-place podium finishes. The Italian rider approaches the Japanese Grand Prix with confidence, clearly aiming to continue fighting at the front.
The venue, Mobility Resort Motegi (formerly Twin Ring Motegi), features a clockwise layout measuring 4.8 km. It consists of a total of 14 corners, with eight right-handers and six left-handers. The track is characterized by a "stop-and-go" layout with many long, slow corners interspersed with straights, and a few high-speed corners. It is known as one of the most demanding circuits on brakes in the calendar.
Both Riders Express Enthusiasm for Racing and Interaction with Japanese Fans
As the Asian tour begins, both riders shared their thoughts on the team's situation and their expectations for the race in Japan.
Jorge Martín praised the team's efforts, stating, "We arrive at the start of the Asian tour at a good time. We are working very well as a team, and I want to thank Aprilia for the great job they are doing." He added, "We need to keep going down this path, maintain consistency, and stay focused on our goals. I have deep respect for Asian culture and I look forward to racing in front of the Japanese fans. A very important phase of the championship begins."
Marco Bezzecchi is also eagerly anticipating the race in Japan, saying, "It's really great to go to Japan. I can't wait to meet all the fans. I really like the Motegi circuit, and I had a pretty good run here last year." He concluded, "Our goal is to have a good weekend and continue the work we've been doing."
