Improved Combat Power Through Refined Engine and Chassis
The TF 250-X is a model equipped with a 249.95cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine, into which Triumph has incorporated technology cultivated in competitions like the Motocross World Championship. As the latest specification of this series, which is active on the front lines of racing, including Guilhem Farres winning the MX2 World Championship in the 2026 season and the FIM MX2 Manufacturers' World Championship, the 2027 model has been announced. Steve Sargent, Triumph's Chief Product Officer, stated that competing at the highest global level provides an opportunity to evaluate all aspects of the motorcycle, explaining that feedback from racing activities has directly contributed to improvements in engine response, shift precision, and suspension performance.
The engine internals are completely machined in-house, from the combustion chamber and ports to the seats and guides. It features forged aluminum pistons, titanium valves, and DLC coating, delivering a maximum output of 48.0 PS at 13,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm. For the 2027 model, throttle response and torque characteristics have been improved through a review of engine calibration, and a new independent stop/start switch has been adopted. Furthermore, optimized coolant routing using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) ensures stable temperature management even during long races.
To enhance durability and operability, new valve guides and clutch components have been introduced. The Exedy Belleville clutch incorporates a new clutch bearing and clutch pack, improving feel and reliability during demanding starts. Additionally, the gear shifting hardware, including the selector drum and detent wheel, has been refined to increase shift precision. The intake system features a high-flow airbox equipped with a Dell'Orto 44mm throttle body and Keihin injector, combined with a Twin Air filter accessible tool-free.
On the chassis side, it adopts an aluminum spine and double cradle frame. The front and rear settings of the KYB suspension have been changed, and new tool-less adjusters that can be adjusted without tools have been added. The front is equipped with 48mm AOS coil spring forks with 310mm of travel, and the rear features a piggyback shock with a 50mm piston and 305mm of travel. Updates to the lightweight 7075-T6 aluminum Neken triple clamps and revisions to the chain guide have also improved handling accuracy and rider feedback.
Completely New Appearance Adopts Jet Black Bodywork

The biggest visual change for the 2027 model is the adoption of an impressive all-black bodywork package. With updated graphics and a redesigned fork guard, it achieves a sharper, more competition-oriented, and streamlined styling. The seat height is set at 960mm, and the slim bodywork and narrow mid-section are designed to support the rider's free weight transfer.
The wheels feature lightweight yet high-strength D.I.D DirtStar 7000 series aluminum rims in a 21-inch front and 19-inch rear configuration. The tires are Pirelli MX32 mid-soft. The braking system combines Brembo master cylinders and calipers with Galfer discs (260mm front, 220mm rear) to ensure stable braking performance in demanding motocross competitions. The hydroformed swingarm and forged machined linkage system use geometry developed based on input from racing teams to optimize traction and corner exits.
In terms of equipment, race-oriented components such as ProTaper carbon core handlebars and ODI lock-on grips are still standard, providing precise steering input and optimal control. The engine management integrates an Athena ECU and GET Power Assist, offering two selectable engine maps as standard. Electronic controls such as launch control, traction control, and quick shifter are also included, with the option to add ten more engine maps using the optional Wi-Fi module and MX Tune Pro app.
Triumph has established a system to support riders' racing activities through a global network of specialized motocross and enduro centers, operating a 24/7 online parts supply system. The selling price in the UK is set at £8,395, and orders are already being accepted. Deployment in Japan has not been clarified, and we await further information.
