This project features a "My Bike" picked from those posted on the Webike Community that caught our editorial team's attention. This time, we're featuring the HONDA "Monkey 125", owned by "Maa-san".

Monkey 125 (125cc) Owner: Maa-san

The Honda "Monkey 125" was released in 2018, inheriting the DNA of the 50cc original Monkey, loved for over half a century, while expanding the displacement to 125cc and increasing the body size to match modern traffic conditions. It retains the adorable style and playful spirit of a leisure bike from the original, while also featuring genuine running gear such as front and rear disc brakes and inverted front forks.

In 2021, the engine was given a longer stroke and the long-awaited 5-speed manual transmission was adopted. This allows for not only nimble city riding but also more comfortable cruising on tours to the suburbs, gaining support from a wide range of riders.

Maa-san, the owner, decided that if they were to ride a motorcycle, it would be the Monkey 125, coinciding with a change in their job. They were also interested in the 5-speed model that appeared around the time they were considering quitting riding, so they decided to purchase it, thinking "there is nothing else but this.". They seem very satisfied with the wide range of customization options and the size that makes it a suitable companion.

■Reason for Purchase, Usage, Comparison Models

My workplace prohibited motorcycles, so I decided that if I were to ride, it would be the Monkey 125, coinciding with a job change. It just so happened that a 5-speed Monkey came out around the time I was thinking of quitting riding, so I decided there was nothing else but this.

■Strengths

Infinite customization potential.
Compared to the 50cc model, the 125cc comes with better street riding equipment from the start, so anything else is purely for personal satisfaction.

■Weaknesses

It's a deep rabbit hole...

■Advice for Future Buyers

It has its good and bad points, but it's the perfect size to call a companion. The grease is not even applied to all parts when delivered, so some maintenance is recommended.

■Future Customization Plans

There's still so much to do with frame painting 🥲
