Since its establishment in 1972, "Daytona" has been aiming to become a brand supported by riders around the world by demonstrating its unique planning and development capabilities. Its original helmet "DN series" has a lineup of various types of helmets. This time, we introduce "DN-010BT," a system helmet with a flip-up chin guard!

Aerodynamic form with enhanced functions

The "DN-010BT" is a system helmet with a chin guard that flips up, but its shape is designed in consideration of aerodynamics. The shell is made of high-strength ABS that meets the Japanese safety standard "SG standard," and is equipped with comfort-enhancing features such as ventilation for efficient air intake, an inner visor with UV-cut effect, and a chin curtain that prevents the wind from entraining the riding wind.A "pin lock sheet" that prevents fogging of the shield is also included, while the standard price of 28,600 yen (including tax) offers good cost performance. The color lineup includes the matte black and white shown in the image. S, M, L, and XL sizes are available. Smoke, dark smoke, and silver mirror are also available as optional colors for the shield.

DN-010BT, a system helmet with a flip-up chin guard. The mouth is a bit tight due to the breath deflector as standard equipment.

Unlocked by a switch at the mouth. It can also be locked with the chin guard raised to the top. It is easy to operate and allows for an immediate feeling of freedom.

The cap shape is designed to channel the wind smoothly and prevent head bobbing. The styling allows the rider to wear it easily even when the riding form is tilted forward.

The inner visor can be raised or lowered with a lever at the lower end of the left side of the cap. The lever is small but easy to operate.

Good weight balance prevents head shaking.

As the author uses a medium size helmet made by a Japanese manufacturer, he chose the medium size (57-58cm) for the DN-010BT. The actual measured weight of the medium size is 1734g, which is a little heavy for a system helmet equipped with a flip-up mechanism. However, when I actually put it on, I did not feel it was as heavy as the value. The weight distribution seems to be well balanced, and there is no unbalanced weight on any part of the cap, which makes it light and comfortable to wear. In addition, the tight fit at the top of the head is comfortable and holds the head firmly in place. The cap does not shift even when shaking the head, and the M size felt like a perfect fit.The eye port (opening) is wide, and the shield is clear with no distortion for good visibility. The shield can be opened by pushing the ribs at the bottom center, which are shaped so that they are easy to push with the fingers. The chin guard can also be unlocked with a switch lever on the underside of the air intake at the mouth, which is also easy to operate with a finger. Flip-up operation is also smooth, and the lock is engaged when the helmet is fully raised, allowing the user to maintain the jet helmet style. The system helmet also makes it easy to rehydrate without taking off the helmet, and allows the rider to feel a sense of freedom immediately. The DN-010BT comes standard with a UV-blocking inner visor, and the lever that raises and lowers the visor is easy to operate. The large area of the inner visor also protects the eyes from the sun while driving and allows for quick and clear vision.

Air intakes are located in the frontal area. The open/close switches are large, but they are less likely to catch the fingers.

The air intake at the mouth is easy to put a finger on and operate. On the underside is the flip-up unlock switch, which is also easy to operate.

Air outlets are located at the back of the head. The shape appears to be less likely to disrupt the running wind. The shutter is not equipped, but left open.

The inner visor covers almost the entire area of the eyeport. The lever is easy to operate, and its smooth operation also makes it user-friendly.

Airtight and quiet. Easy-to-use system helmet

The DN-010BT features an aerodynamic cap shape, and its shell and flip-up chin guard are separate parts with slits. We expected that the slit would emit wind noise when riding. However, the chin guard was firmly seated in the shell, and the standard chin curtain prevented the wind from entering the cap, making the inside of the cap highly airtight. The slits did not generate any wind noise, and the level of quietness and comfort was beyond our expectations. The ventilation system allowed us to feel the inflow of driving wind from about 40km/h, and at 50km/h, we could clearly feel the driving wind flowing through the cap. However, the mouth of the cap felt a bit narrow, and the shield sometimes fogged up when stopped at low temperatures. However, I would like to add that the fogging was quickly resolved once the vehicle was running, and that opening the shield slightly when stopped reduced the fogging. One thing I noticed was that depending on the shape of the frame, it may not be possible to wear glasses. My own glasses have slightly thicker frames and curved earpieces, but there is little clearance between the temples and the interior, so I could not wear glasses (I do not use glasses, so I can actually drive with naked eyes). (The author does not use glasses, so he can actually drive without glasses.) Glasses users should check this part at the fitting.Equipped with ventilation, an inner visor, and comfort functions, the DN-010BT has good operability to flip up the chin guard and is also highly quiet by preventing the entry of driving wind. The weight-balanced, aerodynamic cap shape also contributes to a low swinging head, providing a comfortable fit for touring. It is recommended as a system helmet with excellent cost performance.

A chin curtain is standard. A neck guard is also fitted in the rear, making the head compartment appear narrower, but the cheek pads are flexible and can be removed smoothly

The chin strap is secured with a D-ring. The chinstrap is secured with a D-ring to protect the head in the event of an impact. Snap closure for the chinstrap is also standard.

Earholes are provided in the interior to accommodate intercom speakers. This contributes to improved convenience.

The shock-absorbing liner is shaped to encourage the flow of driving air entering through the air intakes.

The left and right cheek pads are connected by neck curtains. Together with the head pad, it is a two-piece construction, and both pads are washable.
