FLAKES's SR500
FLAKES is a shop based in Aichi Prefecture that specializes in creating high-performance choppers, cafe racers, and bobbers with beautiful graphics. The SR500 introduced here is one that the shop representative, Mr. Sato, made for himself, incorporating the shop's advanced technology to the fullest. Let's take a closer look at the details. Firstly, the styling is noteworthy. The luxurious chassis that tells the story of this machine's character is borrowed from Honda's racer replica, the NSR. Of course, it's not used as is; the swingarm is processed to the same length as the SR stock to balance it out. The engine, originally 500cc, has been big bored to 546cc. However, currently, they are deliberately replacing it with an easy-to-handle stock 400 engine and adjusting the suspension sensitivity and overall balance. The plan is to further increase it to 600cc using a φ93mm piston in the future. The frame was modified with seat rails to distinguish it from an orthodox café racer. The organic design of the seat cowl and the stock fuel tank with sculpted grooves enhance the machine's uniqueness. While elevating its presence with a unique form, it also significantly improves the quality of the ride. It's truly an outstanding machine that blends FLAKES' seriousness and playfulness.
Handle
The headlight is modified from a Motor Garage Goods part. The rim is repurposed from a vintage CEV.
Starting with the top bridge, the front part is repurposed from the NSR. The clip-on handlebars are repurposed from Battle Factory.
Electrical
The Active Digital Speedometer is arranged to be hidden in the fuel tank, showing consideration for the laser-like form. Thumbs up for the thoughtful design!
Bodyworks
The fuel tank is based on a stock tank, and is gouged out. The paint and lettering by Mr. Sato are impressive.
The seat rail draws a chopper-like line. The seat cowl highlights the uniqueness of the machine.
Intake & Exhaust
The silencer is a shop-original megaphone exhaust. The one-off exhaust pipe displays an impressive layout.
Chassis
The swingarm was shortened to make the wheelbase the same as the stock SR. WP was chosen for the rear suspension.
