XJR1200 Swingarm Replaced: ZRX1200R Custom

Z RACING PARTS's ZRX1200/R

Not only does Z Racing Parts specialize in the air-cooled Z series, but they are sometimes asked to build custom machines for the GSX-S Katana series and water-cooled models as a custom shop. In this project, ZRX1200R was selected as the base machine. It is not that this bike cannot demonstrate the same performance as the current model without modifications and enhancements. Based on this, they did not reinforce the frame, which is a standard plan for customizing a old motorcycle. The engine is not overhauled drastically to restore reliability, or to increase the bore size for more power. Instead, an OEM ZZR1200 piston and a camshaft were used to further improve the performance at high-rpm. Furthermore, the intake and exhaust systems were modified to improve response to a degree that is unmatched by the stock setup. Meanwhile, the front and rear suspension was reinforced with Ohlins shocks and Brembo radial-mount brake calipers for sportier riding. The new brake calipers are Brembo radial-mount type, which provide high road-following performance and braking power. The XJR1200 OEM swingarm is often used for the air-cooled Z series custom by Z Racing Parts, to create the owner's preferred style. It is not just a case of installing aftermarket parts to make it become a custom machine, the overall high-performance of the machine is enhanced by details.

Handle

The bracket has been changed to one made by Guild Design to enjoy the machined texture.The stock silver anodized version was differentiated by reapplying black anodizing.

The brake and clutch masters are both made by Brembo. Since Brembo products are well-known and widely used, the use of aluminum master cup was a key point of differentiation.

Electrical

The electrical system was improved with AS Uotani SPII Full Power Kit for both reliable ignition and ignition power. Electrical system customization can be expected to be effective not only for old models but also for current models.

The blinkers and taillights have been replaced to LED type for power saving. Although this is a minor change, it is important to pay attention to the blinker lights in order to enhance the completeness of the custom bike.

Engine

The ZRX series does not have an oil cooler, and a larger radiator is generally used to improve cooling performance. Therefore, an oil cooler is rare to be found, but this was the owner's choice. The oil temperature was lowered as intended.

Intake & Exhaust

The owner insisted on using a carburetor, and chose Yoshimura's TMR - MJN Carburetor to bring out the full performance. The funnels were also dual stacked for intake efficiency.

The exhaust system combines Nitro Racing exhaust pipes and Z Racing Parts silencer. The weld-crafted method of joining titanium pipes together is highly appealing.

Chassis

The subframe and frame sliders are installed to prevent serious damage to the engine in the event of a fall. In recent years, these parts are often installed for dress-up.

The rear shocks have been replaced to Ohlins', which provide high road-following performance and improved ride comfort. The fully adjustable design makes it easy to adjust the settings to suit your purpose, another highly appreciated feature.

The front caliper is radially mounted with Z Racing Parts' original caliper support, and Brembo radial 4-pot calipers are used. The brake rotor and rotor pins are also made by Z Racing Parts.

Sprocket covers are made by K-Factory. It was adopted to change the speed take-off to the sprocket side when the front fork and wheel were replaced. Also blacked out to match the body color.

Like the front brake, the rear brake also features Brembo calipers and the Z Racing Parts' original rotors for a unified bike image.
