Sanctuary's CB1100F
The CB-F series has long been popular due to the influence of Freddie Spencer's champion machine when he won the Daytona 200-mile race, as well as manga and other media. Based on the CB1100F, the flagship and largest displacement model of the series, is the RCM-525, a complete custom machine produced by Sanctuary. The CB-F series was originally produced in the late 70s and 80s, and even the last model is a vintage model that is already more than 30 years old. Sanctuary Group's RCM is a custom plan that aims to restore the former flagship models to their former glory by giving them modern driving performance. Therefore, when building a custom machine, the inside of the engine is also to be as completely rebuilt as possible, but this is very difficult to do all at once due to the difficulty in obtaining the necessary parts.
So, after many years of patiently seeking for new parts, literally from all over the world, this machine was built. The engine was then overhauled using repro parts, which have become increasingly popular in recent years, to bring it back to perfect condition. At the time of the overhaul, the piston displacement was increased to 1,123 liters using Wossner pistons, and the crankshaft was dynamically balanced and the journals were lapped to further increase power output. A Yoshimura TMR-MJN carburetor and Nitro Racing exhaust were also used to achieve powerful and easy handling characteristics for street use. Sculpture brackets and swingarms were used to create a body posture suitable for the 17-inch front and rear suspension, and Ohlins shocks and forged aluminum wheels from OZ Racing were also used. These parts are first-class products that can be used in the racing scene, and Sanctury's Expertise has also been put in to give the riders ease of use in all situations.
Engine
The engine was overhauled and tuned using new parts gathered from all over the world for a long period of time, as well as CB-F repro parts, which have become very popular in these days. However, as a result of the great efforts that went into this project, the team felt that it would be very difficult to produce a CB-F type RCM in the future. There was a strong feeling that this motorcycle might be the last CB-F series RCM that Sanctuary would be able to produce.
Chassis
The front area is constructed with world-class parts such as Brembo radial 4-pot camper, Sunstar RCM concept disc rotors, and forged aluminum GASS RS-A wheels by OZ Racing. This configuration is expected to provide high reliability and performance at a high dimension.
Sanctuary is now offering the E x M (Exchange Mode) package, which includes Ohlins upright (or inverted) front forks, front fenders, ceiling brackets, and caliper supports, all of which are essential parts when replacing front forks.
The step is a product of Nitro Racing. The simple design and built-in bearings in the moving parts ensure high operability. They are also highly rigid and can handle cornering under load more than adequately.
The rear brake system is a combination of Sunstar Φ250mm disc rotors and Brembo 2-pot calipers, that provides a larger tread and improved control. That combination must be worth knowing, even if it were the old style of riding where the rear brake is not used at cornering.
Ohlins rear shocks are black line series. The black suspension was chosen to emphasize the red color of the bike body. Of course, there are no complaints about the performance.
Swingarm is from SCULPTURE products. This is a precision instrument which requires the optimum size and rigidity for each motorcycle. This is specially made one for the CB-F series to ensure the proper body posture. There are also a stabilizer and a chain adjuster only for RCM were installed.
Intake & Exhaust
The exhaust system is a Nitro Racing's titanium one made by the Weldcraft process. The exhaust system is laid out close to the engine, but in order to prevent the pipes from collapsing even at a steep angle, the exhaust pipes are cut in a circle and welded together. The unique weld marks are also beautiful.
Bodyworks
The iconic features of the CB-F series are the headlight, horn, and the position of the indicator. Many owners are likely to maintain these as stock. The indicators have been changed to smaller ones, but the positioning of them has been set with great care so as not to spoil the atmosphere of the CB-F series. This is the kind of attention to detail that goes into the customization of Sanctuary's machines.
The meters are mounted on SCULPTURE brackets with careful attention to their positioning. The new stock meter has already discontinued, which is one of the most difficult parts to find in good condition.
Handle
The RCM Concept Flight lever installed on Brembo's radial pump master is manufactured and sold by Dirt Freak, a ZETA company, and it has holes to prevent the brake lever from being pushed by wind pressure at high speeds exceeding 300km/h. The entire 360° surface is machined and finished with a high quality feel.
